Research

Welcome to the Research page of Chemical Looping, where we push the boundaries of chemical looping technology through innovative research and development. Based at the Vienna University of Technology, our dedicated team focuses on advancing sustainable energy solutions using chemical looping processes.

Our Research Focus:

At Chemical Looping, we are at the forefront of research in chemical looping combustion (CLC) and chemical looping reforming (CLR). Our projects span several critical areas:

  1. Reactor Hydrodynamics: We investigate the fluid dynamics within chemical looping reactors to optimize efficiency and performance. Through advanced experimental setups and computational models, we aim to enhance the understanding of particle circulation and gas-solid interactions.
  2. Detailed Reactor Modeling: We employ sophisticated modeling techniques to simulate the complex behavior of chemical reactions and heat transfer within reactors. This allows us to predict and optimize reactor design parameters for enhanced process control and scalability.
  3. Process Simulation: Our research includes comprehensive process simulation studies to evaluate the economic and environmental impacts of chemical looping technologies. By integrating thermodynamic models and techno-economic assessments, we assess the feasibility and competitiveness of implementing chemical looping in industrial settings.

Collaborative Research

Chemical Looping collaborates closely with academic institutions, industry partners, and research organizations worldwide. These collaborations foster interdisciplinary approaches and facilitate knowledge exchange to accelerate technological advancements in chemical looping.
